New capacitor, now my whole sub stereo doesnt work?

so i wired in a cap, took the fuse out from the power block then cut the power wire in two as well as my amp ground i connected my power wire from the block to the cap then the power wire going to the amp pos. side down, then i connected the ground from the chis to the cap, then the ground from the cap to the amp. mounted the cap, didnt have anything to properly charge my system so i connected the fuse from the power block back up to my power wire to the amp via the cap, as i did that i heard a pop in my trunk like something had blown so i went back and checked all my fuses externally. nothing blown. start the stereo and i have power through the whole line right to my amp but my cap and my amp are as dead as saddam hussein. did i blow my amp? cap? BOTH?
