They are talking about having made mistakes,he is ashamed/sad of what he has done,he means that it wont go away over night,but he will mature&get over what he has done&tomorrow he will start fresh&try to forget the past,dont punish yourself,just learn from your faults,if you have learned your lesson about yourself&the mistakes you have made then your worries are over.basically he says try not not punish yourself to hard as we all learn mistakes but if you relise this&can make yourself a better person,your worries are less.
