Conservatism eventually evolves into dictatorship?

Would you agree that the evolution of conservatism can only lead to total dictatorship? The nature of humanity is to be free, not bound by someone else setting standards for all to adhere. Some "need" conservatism to define for them right and wrong, for them your choice should also follow what they percieve acceptable, disagree?
