Spanish for "God is dead" please?
Decades ago, in the ruins of a Spanish village bombed in the Civil War, I came across the remains of a church, standing isolated amongst a field of debris - with graffiti declaring "God is dead" painted on its wall. I want to include this image in a painting now but can't remember whether it was in English or Spanish - I just remember it was immensely moving, and easily interpreted. Even as an atheist I wept, and still feel the sorrow. So much destruction, anguish, and disillusion. Somehow, to me, it renders more appropriately as a cry from the heart, in Spanish, from the simple people who suffered so much then, as so many simple people still do. So thanks in anticipation.
